PNP starts mobilization of its personnel, resources for Undas 2022

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started the mobilization of its personnel and resources to secure the long weekend which will be marked with the observance of the All Saints and All Souls Days, or locally referred to as Undas.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said police commanders have already been tasked to map out security measures to secure the public in both private and public cemeteries, churches and other places of convergence that include tourist spots for those who would take advantage of the long weekend to go on vacation.

"The entire Philippine National Police will go on full alert status to ensure the availability of police personnel and resources for public safety and security operations for this forthcoming four-day holiday," said Azurin.

"The general guidance by the National Headquarters is for all Police Regional Offices and Units to maintain presence and vigilance in securing the motorists and commuters who are expected to travel to the provinces to be with their loved ones," he added.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. declared Oct. 31, Monday, as a holiday while Nov. 1, Tuesday, is a special non-working holiday.

Azurin said he also instructed all police units to maintain high police presence at all times along travel routes and transport terminals.

In Metro Manila, he said 85 percent of its personnel will be deployed in various transport hubs in the National Capital Region that include seaports, airports and bus terminals.

Azurin also urged the public to ensure the safety of their homes if the entire family would leave to go to the province.

"We are reminding the public to take necessary precautions when leaving their residences unattended during the long weekend holiday. Travelling homeowners are encouraged to coordinate with their barangay or neighborhood authorities for special security arrangements," said Azurin.
