PH Navy rescues 2 injured Pakistani Navy personnel off Ilocos Sur


CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City –The Naval Forces Northern Luzon rescued and provided medical attention to two injured personnel of the Pakistan Navy ship Shamsheer traversing the waters of Ilocos Sur on Friday, Oct. 21.

The injured were Lt. Commander and executive officer Mudassir Aziz Tamimi who sustained leg and arm fracture and Zia-Ul-Islam, chief petty officer, who had head injuries and was unconscious during the time of medical evacuation.

They were taken to the Grupo Medico de Dios Hospital in Camalaniugan, Cagayan.

The ship was en route to Korea before going to Japan for the fleet review of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) when the two personnel working in the forecastle were injured due to the rough sea conditions that caused their ship to shake intensely.

The NFNL, upon receiving the distress radio message of the foreign ship, opened the anchorage area of the port of Sta. Ana, Cagayan where they were given first aid.
