Niña Jose cries foul over personal attacks following Bayambang bridge accident

Bayambang, Pangasinan Mayor Niña Jose couldn't help but feel emotional hearing degrading words from naysayers.

Apparently, some netizens have been throwing shade at her after the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge in her province collapsed.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) the main cause of the incident was overloading.

However, some netizens accused the new alcalde of "corruption."

Others were calling her names.

On her Facebook page, the former “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition” housemate and sexy star admitted feeling hurt hearing such remarks.

She wrote: "Kaya napakasakit po sa damdamin ko na may mga nagsasalita ng kung ano ano, corrupted daw, pati pagiging artista ko eh dinamay tinawag pa ako na 'starlet.'"

Niña reiterated that they're doing the best that they can following the incident.

Then she shared "facts" about the said bridge.

"The bridge is NOT a project of the LGU. It is a project of the National Government and the DPWH. It connects two provinces, Tarlac and Pangasinan. There are 2 stories to this bridge. One is it was made during 1945, refurbished during the 80s and checked by the DPWH last July 2022 after the earthquake. The other story is this bridge was made during the early 90s. Our LGU(MDR and Engineering) also checked the bridge after the earthquake," she shared.

"Ang nagbigay ng initial findings na overload po Ang dahilan ng pagguho ng bridge eh Ang DPWH. May mga checkpoint din po Ang bridge bago dumaan and mga Sasakyan at truck at meron ding mga signages Kung ano po Ang weight limit. Siguro po dahil sa kadahilanan na napakatagal na at madami po dumadaan dyan, bumigay na Ang bridge," she added.

Niña advised keyboard warriors to stop pointing fingers.

"Kaya tigilan nyo na po Ang sisihan and pagsalita ng mga Kung ano ano, please remember there is such a thing as LIBEL nowadays and Cybercrime," she reminded.

More than anything, she's thankful to all local government units who have been working overtime to find a quick solution on the matter. She also extended her gratitude to the provincial government, DPWH, and other LGUs who have been helping them.

Though some were critical of Niña, there are also many who have nothing but good words to say to her.

In fact, the latter received praise in how her administration handled things there.

Recall that when it happened, Niña immediately released a statement on social media, asking her constituents to keep safe.

She also shared numerous infographics containing useful details like water service advisory, alternate routes, and schedule of free transportation - through cars and boats.

Niña also directed affected students to coordinate with their school for an online or modular distance learning setup.

And when an online user credited Niña for dealing with the accident, she said: "It’s not just me who goes out. It’s my LGU family who does. To be honest, I just task them, I have my ways. I know everything that’s happening and I am on top of things."
