BACOLOD CITY – A “habal-habal” or motorcycle-for-hire driver was gunned down in front of his live-in partner in Barangay Ani-e, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Police identified the victim as Danilo Cuales, 52, of Barangay Patun-an.
Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava police chief, said Cuales and his live-in partner were having coffee in a “sari-sari” (community convenience) store when the suspect Ronald Abadilla, 42, of Barangay Lalong, arrived.
Abadilla drew a gun and shot the victim in the chest then fled on foot.
Recovered from the crime scene were six fired bullets of a .45 caliber pistol.
Police are looking into personal grudge as motive in the incident as Cuales and Abadilla had figured in a commotion over passengers, according to Lidawan.
Lidawan said that murder charges will be filed against Abadilla who is still at large.
