Group designates welfare officer for each recruitment agency member to address OFW concerns

More than 200 recruitment agencies have met and discussed ways to effectively address incidents of violence against overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Lawyer David Castillon said the recruitment agencies are members of the Special Alliance of Welfare Officers, Advocates, Recruiters and Migrant Workers Inc.(SWARM) whose clients are mostly being sent to the Middle East.

Castillon said among those discussed was the designation of a welfare officer for each recruitment agency who will serve as a point person in cases of violence against OFWs.

"The welfare officer will be in charge of the request for assistance until the issue is resolved," said Castillon.
