CEBU CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has named Bohol Gov. Erico Aris Aumentado chairman of the Regional Development Council-Central Visayas (RDC 7).

Named co-chairman was award-winning industrial designer Keneth Cobonpue.

In a statement, the National Economic and Development Authority-Central Visayas said the appointment of Aumentado and Cobonpue was announced through a transmittal letter from the Office of the President dated Oct. 19.

Aumentado is serving his first term as governor of Bohol.

“Dako kaayo ang akong pasalamat sa atong mahal nga Presidente, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sa iyang pagpili nako isip chair sa Regional Development Council (RDC)-Central Visayas. Bisan pa man og bag-o pa lang ako nagsugod sa akong termino, gihatagan gihapon ako og maayong higayon nga atong maserbisyohan ang mga katawhan sa atong rehiyon (I am very thankful to our beloved President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., for choosing me as chair of Regional Development Council (RDC)-Central Visayas. Even if I am just starting with my first term, I was given this great opportunity to serve the people in our region),” Aumentado said in a statement.

Aumentado acknowledged the challenges that come with being chairman of RDC 7.

“It is not an easy position and it comes with a great responsibility. But with the help of my fellow governors, mayors, and other members of RDC 7, we can implement various programs that would help improve the region,” Aumentado said.

“I offer this new challenge and opportunity to my fellow Boholanos here and in the whole world,” Aumentado added.

Aumentado and Cobonpue will have a three-year term at the RDC-7.

This is Aumentado’s first term at the RDC while Cobonpue had his first term in 2016-2019 and second term in 2019-2022.

Cobonpue will also serve as chairman of the Infrastructure Development Committee.
