Broadcast journalist Atom Araullo didn't let it slide when an online user supposedly red-tagged his mother in a post.
On Twitter, Atom posted: "I don’t usually call out private individuals here, but behavior like this should not be normalized."

Note that in the post, the netizen called his mom, Dr. Carol Pagaduan Araullo, chairperson of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), an "NPA."
Atom lectured his Twitter followers, citing the netizen's claim as an example of "disinformation."
"Disinformation is a huge problem globally, one that can have deadly consequences. Examples from a particularly devoted user below," he wrote, along with the screenshot of the netizen's tweets.
Among them:
"Balita ko nanay mo NPA ah. At di ka pa naman binubusalan dami nyo nga alam eh puro reklamo. Kayo kayo naguutan sa award na yan Atom."
"Eh pano naman yung nanay mong utak ng bomba sa Mendiola massacre? NANAY MONG UTAK NG BOMBING SA MENDIOLA THROUGH LIGHT A FIRE MOVEMENT pano hustisya para sa kanila? Matuto ka namang mahiya huy."
In another post, Atom tagged the social media account of the said netizen.
He said: "@Jey_Owh, don’t do that. These are lies, probably fed to you by some of the influencers you follow. Kailan pa naging katanggap-tanggap yung ganito?"
Meanwhile, in another post, Atom expressed gratitude to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), for condemning an "attack" on members of the media community.
In their statement, the NUJP called on their colleagues to speak out against red-tagging.
