President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed Gamaliel A. Cordoba as chairperson of the Commission on Audit (COA).
Cordoba, then head of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), took his oath of office before Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo at the Supreme Court’s session hall on Friday afternoon, Oct. 21.
He replaced then COA Chairperson Jose C. Calida who stepped down early this October due to health reasons.
Once his appointment is affirmed by the Commission on Appointments, Cordoba will serve a fix term of seven years without reappointment.
COA is an independent constitutional commission which examines, audits, and settles all accounts and expenditures of funds and properties of the government.
