Parañaque City officials led by Mayor Eric Olivarez and 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez recently met with representatives of the Department of Health to seek approval for new facilities and services in the two city-funded hospitals - Ospital ng Parañaque 1 or OsPar1 and Ospital ng Parañaque 2 or OsPar2.
The city officials sought DOH's permission for the construction of a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a Dialysis Center at OsPar1 and additional 35 beds to the existing 35-bed capacity in the city’s first public hospital.
They also sought the DOH's approval for the operation of an Out-Patient Department (OPD) at OsPar2 while awaiting its license to fully operate as a Level 1 Hospital.
“We want to upgrade our city-run hospitals as soon as possible but we want to go through the proper process to ensure the health and safety of our constituents. Once we get the DOH green light, we shall immediately implement them,” Rep. Olivarez said.
Rep. Olivarez and Mayor Olivarez were joined by other city officials -- City Administrator Voltaire Dela Cruz, with OsPar1 Medical Director Dr. Jeff Pagsisihan, Hospital Administrator Darius Sebastian, City health Office Head Dr. Olga Virtusio and Dr. Patrick Cruz -- in the meeting.
The DOH was represented by Dr. Gloria J. Balboa and Dr. Dindo Billarmino.
It was during the Rep. Olivarez's time as mayor that OsPar1, located in Barangay La Huerta in the city’s first district, was renovated and improved by adding bed capacity and professional staff including doctors, nurses, and medical technologists, among others.
Rep. Olivarez also initiated the building of OsPar2 in Barangay Don Bosco in the city’s second district.
The hospital has been completed and was initially used exclusively as a Covid-19 hospital.
