A man was arrested by members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after he allegedly snatched the bag of a former actress in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City on Thursday evening, Oct. 20.
Lt. Col. Robert Amoranto, QCPD Kamuning Station (PS 10) commander, identified the suspect as Abdul Mohammad Bocua, 30, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit, QC.
Police said that the victim, Erica Davantes, also known as Hazel Espinosa, a former actress, was fixing her belongings at the back of her car in front of a clinic on Scout Tuazon Street in Barangay Holy Spirit at around 9 p.m. when the motorcycle-riding suspect suddenly snatched her bag containing two cellphones, an IPad Mini, a gold ring with stone, an identification card, receipts of business transactions, and some keys.
The suspect fled towards Roces Avenue.
According to the QCPD, Davantes reported the incident to the PS 10, informing the cops that the suspect’s location was already tracked using her daughter’s phone.
Responding police officers immediately conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect in his house in Barangay Holy Spirit.
Authorities recovered from the suspect the victim’s two cellphones worth P130,000 and her IPad Mini worth P42,000.
The suspect will be charged with robbery under Republic Act 11235 (An Act Preventing and Penalizing the Use of Motorcycles in the Commission of Crimes), police said.
