Maricar Reyes opens up on 2009 'crisis'

Maricar Reyes has a book out.

There, the wife of singer Richard Poon talked about what she experienced in 2009, deeming it as "the year when a crisis changed my life."

Recall that she embroiled in what was labeled as a "sex scandal" that time.

"13 years have passed and I've chosen not to talk about it...until now," she wrote on Instagram. "Today, I'm finally telling my side of the story — how I bounced back from the darkest chapter of my life."

"Be one of the first to know about my journey towards overcoming online shame," she added. "I hope my story will help or inspire you to find a way out of your dark situation, whatever that may be. Remember, you are not alone and there is always a way out. Laging may SOLUSYON."

In another post, Maricar answered the question as to why she had to revisit the past.

According to Maricar, she simply wants to help others in a similar dark situation.

"I'm writing this book for those who have been broken by slander, rumors, & online-shaming. By sharing my story, I hope I can inspire those who feel broken by a battle that feels impossible to win," she related.

"I believe there is ALWAYS a way back up. Walang susuko! It's going to be difficult, but with the right choices, you can turn things around for the better."

In the book, Maricar was quoted to have said: "I hated everyone who watched, shared, made nasty comments, insensitive jokes, or had anything to do with the spread of the video."

Meanwhile, Maricar shared that at the very end of her book she included a chapter called “Can you relate?”

"My readers may not have gone through exactly what I’ve gone through, but I know many of them have faced (or are currently facing) very challenging times," she said.

"This last chapter is my way of giving back, in honor of every mentor who has helped me make sense of, and learn from my crisis," she added.

Maricar reiterated that chapter 15 contains guide questions to help her readers understand their own journey.

"Because, like me many years ago, you may not know where to start," she said.

"I really hope this helps you find healing," she told her supporters. "If my book has helped you in any way, please pay it forward. Be a light to the people around you. Let them learn from your story too."
