ILOILO CITY — Col. Jerome Afuyog Jr. is the new chief of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
Afuyog formally took over from Col. Winston de Belen in a turnover ceremony presided over by Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 chief, earlier this week.
“I will give my very best in Capiz. I am going to work within the peace and security framework,” said Afuyong in his assumption speech.
Afuyong oversees more than 1,200 policemen assigned to 16 towns and the provincial capital of Roxas City.
“I will continue whatever plans what was left behind by my predecessor,” added Afuyong.
De Belen was Capiz police chief for nine months.
Francisco assured Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro that Afuyong is fit for the job.
“Under his leadership, I fully expect a police force with accountability, performance, and most of all discipline,” Francisco said.
