BI foils another attempt of its foreign inmates to smuggle drugs in jail

Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have foiled an attempt of its two detainees to bring in illegal drugs inside its detention center in Bicutan, Taguig City.

BI warden chief Adelfo Marasigan said Robert Wayne Boling, Jr. and Kwon Hyeok Soo conspired to sneak in two sachets of shabu on Oct. 4.

Marasigan said the narcotics substance was hidden inside a Korean stew that was delivered for Boling.

This was the second time the BI foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs into its detention facility.

On Sept. 21, Korean national Yang Heejun was also caught sneaking in four grams of shabu wrap in plastic and inserted inside a kimchi container.

Marasigan said the guards started to be suspicious when they noticed that the food delivery requested by Boling was contained in almost the same container as that of Yang.

Boling confessed that Kwon sought the delivery of the almost seven grams of the illegal substance under his name.

The duo, Marasigan said, will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. If convicted, they will first serve their sentence before deportation.
