Mayor Joy Belmonte hailed the hardworking men and women of the city government for the citation given by the Commission on Audition (COA) to Quezon City as the richest city in the country for the second straight year.
“We are wholly grateful and humbled by this recognition from the Commission on Audit (COA), naming Quezon City as the richest city in the Philippines for the second straight year with a total asset of P451 billion,” Belmonte said in a statement.
“This distinction shows that our good governance efforts, particularly on fiscal reforms, have paid off,” she added.
In the Annual COA Financial Report, Quezon City took the top spot on the list of the wealthiest local government units in the Philippines for the year 2021. The city’s total assets recorded was at P451.007 billion.
Quezon City was also named by the COA as the richest city in 2020 with around P452 billion total assets.
“We owe this to the hardworking men and women of the city government. Without them, we cannot accomplish this feat,” Belmonte said.
Makati City took the second spot with P238.562 billion total assets while Manila placed third with P65.253 billion.
Pasig City landed on the fourth spot with P51.176 billion total assets, followed by Taguig City with P36.117 billion.
Also on the list were the cities of Cebu (P33.343 billion), Mandaue (P33.007 billion), Mandaluyong (P31. 440 billion), Davao (P26.556 billion), and Caloocan City (P23.383 billion).
“This honor will serve as our source of inspiration and strength to continue working for the betterment of our city and for the welfare of QCitizens,” Belmonte said.
