Antipolo City LGU, Rizal prov'l officials distribute aid to fire victims


The Antipolo City government, together with the Rizal provincial government, distributed assistance to 80 families who lost their homes in a fire that hit Maligaya II, Barangay Mambugan on Monday, Oct. 17.

In a set of photos posted on Facebook, Rizal Governor Nina Ynares, together with the local officials of Antipolo, visited the victims who are temporarily sheltered in evacuation centers on Tuesday, Oct. 18, to provide them assistance.

"Sa tulong po ng ating mga katrabaho sa kapitolyo, pati na din sa mga taga city hall, agad po tayong nakabisita sa site para makiramay sabay makapamahagi na din po ng emergency supplies gaya ng hygiene kits, sleeping kits, kitchen utensils at food assistance. Nagdala din po tayo ng pet food, leash, and collar para sa kanilang mga alaga (With the help of our co-workers in the provincial capitol and city hall, we immediately visited the site to sympathize with the victims and distribute emergency supplies such as hygiene kits, sleeping kits, kitchen utensils and food assistance. We also provided them with pet food, leash, and collars for their pets)," Ynares said.

"Atin pong sisiguraduhin na makakaahon ang bawat pamilyang nasunugan sa lalong madaling panahon (We will make sure that every family who became a victim of the fire will recover as soon as possible)," she added.

The Antipolo City government also provided cremation assistance to one of the victims after their house was hit by the fire.

According to the Marikina Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade Volunteers who responded to the incident, the fire started past 1:00 a.m. and spread quickly as most of the houses were made of light materials.

The blaze reached the second alarm before it was declared under control at around 2:37 a.m..

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has yet to report on the estimated damage to property caused by the fire.
