Two Filipino youth delegates have arrived in Rome, Italy to represent the country in the 2022 World Food Forum (WFF) Flagship Event from Oct. 17 to 21.
They are the first ever Filipinos to represent the Philippines in the said global forum, the National Youth Commission (NYC) said in a Facebook post.
NYC said that Atty. Colleen Rose Guantero from Bohol and Fiori Rexia Estoperez from the National Capital Region will share the "best practices" in resolving the country's food insufficiency and strengthening agrifood systems at the WFF.
The event is also an "opportunity for young people and youth allies across the globe to participate in the WFF flagship event, which culminates the activities and dialogues held throughout the year including the Youth Action Assembly, innovation awards, educational activities, capacity development workshops, exhibitions’ side events, and cultural activities," NYC said.
The assembly was organized by the WFF—an international network that connects delegates from different parts of the world to tackle issues such as food safety and traceability, food security, and sustainable agri-food.
With this year's theme, "Healthy Diets. Healthy Planet," WFF said that it aims to emphasize the connections between dietary and planetary health as well as increase worldwide access to nutritious food.
