MPD inspects Manila cemeteries ahead of Undas

The Manila Police District (MPD) on Sunday, Oct. 16, conducted an inspection at cemeteries in Manila in preparation for the upcoming Undas.

"Latag na 'yong security preparations but we are flexible dahil nasa pandemic period pa po tayo (Security preparations are already in place but we are flexible because we are still in the pandemic period),” MPD District Director Gen. Andre Dizon said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

Around 1,000 policemen will be deployed to the city's cemeteries during the observance of “Undas.”

"Iko-control natin ang entry ng visitors dito sa cemetery ("We will control the entry of visitors to the cemetery),” Dizon added.

The police will also implement an anti-criminality procedure to ensure the safety of the public who will visit their deceased loved one, he added.

Dizon, meanwhile, reminded those who will go to cemeteries to not bring any deadly weapons.

The city government of Manila had also earlier reminded the public that bringing alcoholic beverages, flammable materials, firearms and any sharp objects such as knife, cutter, etc., videoke or any sound system that may cause loud sound, deck of cards, bingo cards, or any kind of gambling are prohibited inside the Manila North Cemetery and Manila South Cemetery premises starting Saturday, Oct. 29 to Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Unvaccinated individuals as well as children ages 12 years old and below will also not be allowed to enter the premises.
