Mary Rhose Dapol unleashed two consecutive aces and a down-the-line spike to stretch the lead to 16-8 in the third period that assured the Lady Altas a swift victory and picked up their third win in Pool A.

Dapol led Perpetual with seven points off four attacks and three aces to cap off the preliminaries with a triumph over Mapua which dropped to a 1-2 slate.

In the earlier play, San Sebastian wrapped up its preliminaries in Pool B on a winning note after making quick work of Emilio Aguinaldo College via a convincing 25-13, 25-13, 25-21 straight-set victory.

The Lady Stags fended off a late comeback from the Lady Generals in the third frame to seal their lone victory in four outings, keeping the latter winless in two games.

Christina Marasigan delivered the finishing blows for San Sebastian from the service area with back-to-back aces in the Lady Stags’ last three points that helped them secure the seat.

Kath Santos finished with 10 points anchored on nine kills while Marasigan posted three of her eight markers in the third frame for the Lady Stags.

“I have seen a lot of improvement from my players. At least my players, especially the rookies, were able to get valuable experience and exposure in this tournament,” said Lady Stags coach Roger Gorayeb.
