Two couriers carrying P2.04 M worth of marijuana intercepted in Kalinga


TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Alert personnel of Tabuk City Police Station intercepted two couriers of marijuana bricks worth P2.04 million during an interdiction checkpoint on Thursday, Oct. 13, in Barangay Naneng in this city.

Lt. Col. Joey Jonathan Bagayao, chief of Tabuk City Police Station, identified the arrested as Mark Yuzon, 21, of Tondo, Manila and Jess Bilas De Guzman, 49, of Dimasalang, Manila.

Bagayao said they received a call from personnel of 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company based at Barangay Dinacan, Lubuagan, Kalinga, informing them that a vehicle described as one metallic light utility vehicle with identified plate number evaded their checkpoint.

The Tabuk CPS immediately set up a checkpoint for the possible route of the vehicle in the area to exit the city until they intercept the vehicle.

During the inspection of the vehicle, the operatives found 17 pieces of dried marijuana bricks and stalks with an estimated Standard Drug Price of P2,040,000.

Bagayao said the evidence obtained was accounted for and witnessed by the representatives from media, DOJ and barangay officials.

The suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Tabuk City PS for proper documentation and disposition.
