Rep. Quimbo gives fuel subsidy to over 4,500 TODA members amid rising oil prices


Marikina City Rep. Stella Quimbo distributed fuel subsidies to around 4,512 members of the Marikina Tricycle Operators and Drivers' Association (TODA) in the city’s second district on Thursday, Oct. 13.

In partnership with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Quimbo gave a total of P4,512,000 worth of fuel subsidies, with each TODA member receiving P1,000.

She said the subsidy was given straight to the beneficiaries’ GCash accounts, the first time the city government used this method of aid distribution.

Serving as the senior vice chairperson of the Appropriations Committee in the House of Representatives, Quimbo spearheaded the initiative for additional funding of the Fuel Subsidy Program.

Through the program, they are able to help tricycle drivers and operators continue their livelihood amid persistent high gas prices.

A fuel price hike has been reported for this week, Oct. 11 to 17. Gasoline prices have increased by P1.40 per liter, kerosene by P3.90 per liter, and diesel by P6.85 per liter.
