The aid, which was given under the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program, will be used by the beneficiaries as a "seed capital fund" for their chosen livelihood activity.

DSWD Undersecretary for Operations Group Jerico Francis L. Javier, Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Affairs Arnel B. Garcia, Assistant Secretary for Statutory Programs Elaine F. Fallarcuna, and Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga spearheaded the turnover ceremony of a check amounting to P1,240,000 at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Training Center, Butuan City on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Javier said that the national and local governments are ready to send help and assistance to former rebels who want to establish a new life.

The Livelihood Settlement Grant is just one of the government's efforts to assist them, he added.

Meanwhile, Amante encouraged the beneficiaries to remain firm in their decision of surrendering to the government.
