In a statement, the PDEA said they arrested Juanito Jose Remulla III, 38, in Ponte Verde BF Resort Village, Brgy. Talon Dos last Oct. 11.

During the operation, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) seized 893.91 grams of marijuana kush from the younger Remulla.

They also recovered from him a parcel with invoice indicating the shipper/consignee with two brown paper pouches attached and bubble wrapped each where plastic pouches of kush were found; one blue clipboard, a parcel receipt and one driver’s license card.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) is a composite anti-narcotics team which includes the PDEA.

In a handwritten statement, the DOJ chief vowed "not intervene in his son's predicament."

Statement of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla

“I am both a father and the secretary of Justice, roles that I take very seriously. We all know about unconditional love, but at 38 years old, he will have to face his predicament as a fully emancipated child,” Remulla said.

“I will not intervene in nor influence my son’s predicament, and I have not done so in any way... A person should always face the consequence of their actions and I will let justice take its own course,” he added.

The elder Remulla admitted that this was a “very difficult time” for him and his family and that he would “let justice take its course.”

The eldest son of the DOJ secretary now faces charges for violation of Section 4 9importation of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
