Contractor gunned down in Zamboanga City


ZAMBOANGA CITY – A 49-year-old contractor was killed while his bodyguard was wounded in an ambush in Barangay Divisoria here on Thursday night, Oct. 13.

The Police Regional Office-9 said Alvin Perez was travelling on board his vehicle with two bodyguards when four unidentified men clad in fatigue uniforms and riding two motorcycles appeared and fired at his vehicle.

Perez, who was driving, was forced to stop the vehicle while the two gunmen continued firing at him using M-16 rifles.

He sustained bullet wounds and was taken to a hospital where he died.

His bodyguard, Danny Boy Bellesa, sustained bullet wounds while another escort, Regie Bartolome, was unharmed.

Police found empty shells of an M16 rifle and .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Lawmen are thoroughly investigating the incident.
