DPWH-CSDEO District Engineer Oscar Gumiran said the road project is under the Convergence and Special Support Program – Construction/Improvement of Access Roads Leading to Trades, Industries, and Economic Zones.

Construction was started on Feb. 3 this year and includes the construction of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) with a total length of 375 linear meters and a width of 6.70 meters measuring 280-millimeter thick.

The road project was built with concrete retaining walls and RC pipes with headwalls to provide a long-lasting solution to erosions.

“Coconut farmers in Sanchez Mira will now have an easier and faster way to transport their products to the market and other trade centers nationwide,” said Gumiran.

The road may objective is to boost Cagayan’s agricultural industry, as the Philippines is known to be the second largest producer of coconut products in the world, and Sanchez Mira is considered the coconut center of Cagayan.
