The Archdiocese of Manila conducted a reshuffle of its clergy on Thursday, Oct. 13.
Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula has retained Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio “as the vicar general of the archdiocese,” as stated in the report of CBCP News, the media arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
“Msgr. Ignacio will keep the position he’s held since 2015 when Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle was still archbishop of Manila,” the CBCP News said.
“A vicar general is the highest official in a diocese after the bishop, who acts as his principal deputy,” it added.
Msgr. Rolando dela Cruz is now assigned as the new rector of the Manila Cathedral.
“He will replace Fr. Regie Malicdem who was named chaplain at the chapels of Landmark and SM malls in Makati City,” the CBCP News stated.
About 200 priests were given new parish assignments on Thursday's "major reshuffle" of the archdiocese's clergy, the CBCP News said.
This covers the parishes in the cities of Manila, Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong and San Juan, it added.
