DOLE turns over P47.4-M to finance emergency employment in Cagayan


The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday, Oct. 12, turned over a check amounting to P47.4 million to the provincial government of Cagayan for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Provincial Capitol of Cagayan and it was led by Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales of DOLE Regional Office 2 and Cagayan Governor Manuel N. Mamba.

Gonzales said the TUPAD program targeted 27 municipalities across the province, with at least 11,256 target beneficiaries.

The financial assistance includes more than P45 million in TUPAD wages; P630,840 in Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) insurance; and P1.8 million worth of personal protective equipment for the beneficiaries.

On the part of the provincial government of Cagayan, Mamba noted that DOLE is a longtime partner for their programs and ventures to their constituents.

Benefiting the TUPAD program were residents from the towns of Abulug, Alcala, Allacapan, Amulung, Aparri, Baggao, Ballesteros, Buguey, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Claveria, Enrile, Iguig, Gattaran, Gonzaga, Lal-lo, Lasam, Pamplona, Peñablanca, Piat, Rizal, Sanchez Mira, Solana, Sta. Ana, Sta. Praxedes, Sta. Teresita, and Tuguegarao City.
