The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now preparing for the possible adverse impact of tropical depression "Maymay" as it noted that the heavy rains spawned by the weather disturbance has already caused landslides that so far affected the road that connects the provinces of Quirino and Aurora.

The QDEO said it closed the road connecting Quirino and Aurora due to landslides and rock falls from the mountain.

The DPWH also reported the collapse of the 91-meter mountainside along Section 4 of the ongoing road rehabilitation.

DPWH Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas warned the public to refrain from traversing the said road due to the abrupt falling of rocks from the cliffside along the eroded road slope.

Canlas instructed the district's equipment and Maintenance Crew for clearing, traffic manning, and monitoring while assessing the extent of the damage.

DPWH has already coordinated with the Nagtipunan local government and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 2 Office to assist motorists crossing the national road.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday, Oct. 11, raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over six areas in eastern Luzon due to "Maymay".

Pagasa placed Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands under Signal No. 1.
