The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) following the rumbling of the Mayon Volcano in Albay.
In its notice, the CAAP advised pilots to be wary of the increasing unrest of the volcano which was already placed under Alert Level 2.
The NOTAM was issued on Friday, Oct. 3, but was extended until 9 a.m. of Oct. 9 due to the increasing unrest of the Mayon Volcano.
"With Mayon Volcano now on Alert Level 2, flights have been prohibited to operate 10,000 feet from the surface and advised to avoid flying close to the volcano's summit as ash from the sudden phreatic eruption can be hazardous to aircraft," the NOTAM read.
In an advisory, state volcanologists confirmed the presence of freshly extruded lava at the base of the summit lava dome during an aerial inspection of the summit.
