Popularizing S&T: DOST-PCIEERD, Megaworld to use malls to promote science to the public for free

In an aim to popularize and promote science to the public for free, the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and Megaworld Corporation officially signed a partnership renewing their commitment.

DOST PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico Paringit and Megaworld Corporation Assistant Vice President Michael G. Lao led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding recently at the Venice Grand Canal Mall.

“This MOU is our way to promote our initiatives on science, technology, and innovation in areas which are accessible to everyone. We thank the management of Megaworld Corporation for always lending a hand to DOST,” Paringit said.

DOST-PCIEERD said that under the year-long partnership, the council will lend two e-vehicle chargers - a technology it supported to develop - to be deployed in the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. The Council will also offer technical advice to the country’s leading property developer on the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations at Megaworld-owned malls.

On the other hand, Megaworld will provide DOST its mall venues for fairs, exhibitions, and information drives from October 4, 2022, to December 2023 free of charge. It will also be a venue partner in one of DOST PCIEERD’s conferences.

To recall, both parties held a collaborative e-mobility exhibit in July this year to promote a greener transport economy in the country amid rising fuel prices and worsening traffic woes.

The MOA was held simultaneously with the launching space technology traveling exhibit which was in partnership with the Philippine Foundation for Space Technology (PFST) and the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) in celebration of the World Space Month.

A ceremonial MOA signing ceremony was also held for the new projects that DOST PCIEERD will be supporting for 2024.
