P800,000 marijuana plants destroyed in Cebu

CEBU CITY – Police uprooted at least 2,000 marijuana plants valued at P800,000 in a mountain barangay in Toledo City, Cebu on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The marijuana plantation was discovered by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said the alleged cultivators of the marijuana plantation tried to escape after seeing the law enforcers arrive but one of them was eventually cornered.

The suspect was identified as Christopher Cañaliso, 37.

Cañaliso’s companion was identified as Felix Labaso. Vega said follow-up operations to locate Labaso are ongoing.

“I laud the troops for the accomplishment and ensure the apprehension of other drug personalities involved,” Vega said.
