Woman dead, husband unhurt in Pangasinan shooting


CALASIAO, Pangasinan -- A woman was killed while her husband survived after they were shot by unidentified perpetrators along a diversion road in Brgy. Bued on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Col. Jeff Fanged, officer-in-charge of Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, identified the victim as Ernalyn Sotelo y Unay, 38, resident of PNR Site, Brgy. San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Report said the victim was on board a motorcycle driven by her husband identified as Melchor, 38, a resident of Brgy. Cabilocaan.

The assailant/s allegedly fired at the couple while they were traversing the diversion road that’s under construction.

The victim was hit on different parts of the body, while her husband was unhurt in the gun attack.

The victim was rushed by her relatives to Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan City, Pangasinan but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have yet to determine the motive in the crime.

Investigators were also looking to validate reports that the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
