The Bureau of Customs has collected total revenues amounting to P79.5 billion for September this year, representing a 28.4-percent increase in its collection target for the month.
BOC commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz attributed the increase of P21.9 billion in September collection to stringent implementation of border control measures, which he said, has driven the bureau to plug revenue leakages and strengthen the nation’s trade facilitation and revenue collection performance.
"Our revenue collection for the month of September shows an increase of P21.9 billion in garnered revenues and a 38.1 percent collection improvement as compared to September of last year," said Ruiz.
Ruiz vowed to sustain its positive performance throughout 2022 as it already collected P638.7 billion in total revenues.
The revenue collection from January to September this year, according to Ruuiz, is 17.8 percent above its target for the nine-month period of 2022.
This shows an increase of P168.9 billion or 35.9 percent in collection under the same timeline in 2021, according to the official.
