Ateneo, UP seek second win

Ateneo seeks to continue its redemption campaign in the UAAP Season 85 men’s basketball tournament at the expense of National University to cap off a busy playdate on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Blue Eagles (1-0) expect a tough battle against the Bulldogs (1-0) in their 6:30 p.m. clash as they are both coming off their respective opening wins.

Forthsky Padrigao led Ateneo with 19 points to gain the upper hand over the Tamaraws, 79-70, last Oct. 2, while NU kept the University of the East winless in 15 games after buckling down to work in the fourth period to secure a 77-70 win on the same day.

“NU’s a physically tough team and they do exactly what Jeff (Napa) wants. He’s a disciplinarian, they’re not gonna be easy for everybody this season and I expect that we’re gonna get a real taste of that on Wednesday,” said Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin.

The first tipoff is set at 11 a.m. as UE (0-1) attempts to break its 15-game losing streak against FEU (0-1).

Defending champion University of the Philippines (1-0) will meet Adamson (0-1) in their 1:00 p.m. matchup, while De La Salle (0-1) takes on University of Santo Tomas (1-0) at 4:30 p.m.
