2 Davao City cops arrested for robbing fish trader in General Santos City


GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police here arrested two policemen assigned to the Davao City Police Office and their two civilian cohorts for allegedly robbing a businessman in this city on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 director, identified the suspects as Chief Master Sgt. Renante Medina, 44; Master Sgt. Christopher Ararao, 45; Edwin Salvador, 40, and Winston Jay Ongco, 30.

Police said the suspects broke into the house of Jacky Faeldin, a fish dealer in Barangay San Jose, and at gunpoint carted away cash amounting to P165,000.

The suspects escaped aboard a Hyundai Tucson Sports Utility Vehicle that was intercepted by pursuing policemen on the Diversion Road in Barangay Katangawan here.

They yielded one Bushmaster rifle, one rifle grenade, two .45 caliber pistols, and two .9mm caliber pistols.

Macaraeg said the two policemen will face robbery charges, along with their companions, and assured the people that he will not condone any wrongdoing committed by policemen.
