This, after Romualdez complimented not just Zubiri but the entire upper chamber during a ceremonial signing of enrolled measures Tuesday, Oct. 4 in Makati City.

In a short speech at the event, Romualdez said, "Senate President Zubiri has done a fantastic job in leading the Senate."

"We try to emulate the high standards that he has put there in the Senate, in the House so that we could achieve great things together such as these legislations that we have just signed as enrolled bills for transmittal to the President this week," said the Leyte 1st district congressman. The House of Representatives and Senate are co-equal branches in the legislature.

"We look forward to more of these occasions. And again, to each and everyone of you who have been a very, very important part of today’s event maraming, maraming salamat po (thank you very much). Congratulations for a job well done," added Romualdez, who is also the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president.

The enrolled bills that were signed by the top two leaders in the legislature Tuesday were the proposed SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) Card Registration Act and the Barangay and SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) Elections Postponement Act.

I am honored to join Senate President Migz Zubiri in signing the enrolled bills that will be officially transmitted to Malacanang for the President’s signature,” Romualdez said.

Back in May, during the canvassing of the votes from the May 2022 national elections, Zubiri praised Romualdez for his diligence.

"He did not leave his post, he did not have his lunch, he did not go to the bathroom or toilet, I had to excuse myself for at least an hour to do my own thing as well,” the Mindanao senator said of Romualdez.

“Bilib ako sayo boss (You impressed me boss), you are leading by example and I am honored to be with you today in this very historic canvassing of votes for president and vice president, maraming salamat po (thank you very much) for your service,” Zubiri added. At that time, Zubiri was Senate majority leader, while Romualdez was House majority leader.

The two built their rapport during the campaign period leading to the polls as they were both active participants of the Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-led "UniTeam" ticket.

Zubiri ran as a reelectionist senator while Romualdez served as Duterte's campaign manager during the polls.
