"We are deeply saddened and angered by the brutal and brazen killing of fearless broadcaster, father and husband, brother and friend, Percy Lapid," read a Facebook post by Roy Mabasa, Lapid's brother.

"We strongly condemn this deplorable crime; it was committed not only against Percy, his family, and his profession, but against our country, his beloved Philippines, and the truth," it read.

"Percy was beloved by many and highly respected by peers, fans and foes alike. His bold and sharp commentaries cut through the barrage of fake news over the air waves and on social media. We demand that his cowardly assassins be brought to justice," Mabasa's post further read.

Mabasa is a former long-time scribe of the Manila Bulletin, as well as a former president of the National Press Club (NPC).

A previous Facebook post from Mabasa showed the last photo that he took with his brother.

"He was a great family man, loving father to his children, and a dedicated husband to his wife, Liza. I will always remember my brother for his deep faith in God and his undying love for his country," he wrote of Lapid.

Lapid was ambushed by gunmen at around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the gate of BF Resort along Aria Street, Barangay Talon 2, Las Piñas City.
