Muntinlupa mayor signs city resolution on collection of BFP's fire inspection fees

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon has signed a resolution approved by the City Council authorizing him to sign an agreement with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the collection of fire safety inspection fees.

The memorandum of agreement between Biazon and Muntinlupa Fire Marshall Eugene Briones will allow the city government to collect fire safety inspection fees on behalf of the BFP as part of the mayor’s new policy on ease of doing business in the city.

Under Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, “the BFP may enter into agreements with cities or municipalities to allow the latter to be deputized as assessors and/or collecting agents for fire inspection fees.”

“The City Government of Muntinlupa, through one of its flagship coordination programs ‘Kaunlaran’ under the 7K Agenda and pursuant to the inter-agency coordination set forth in the LGC of 1991, supports this initiative of making available the public service in the most convenient way,” according to the resolution.

The city government’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) and the City Treasurer will be co-implementers of the MOA wherein 15 percent of the collection of all fee by the city will be remitted to the BFP and the 20 percent share of Muntinlupa will be remitted to the national treasury to the coffers of the city.
