Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10743 and as designated by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO), the NTD/WTD is celebrated every year on Oct. 5.

Marking this event, DepED will conduct various activities to “acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role of teachers” in terms of nurturing communities and guiding Filipinos.

This year’s culminating program will be spearheaded by DepED Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and will be held at the Abra Sports Complex in Bangued, Abra.

Vice President and DepED Secretary Sara Duterte is set to grace the event and visit schools in Abra from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m on Wednesday.

Program Proper

Kickstarting the event with preliminary activities, DepED will be featuring inspiring stories of teachers from the region. They are also set to recognize notable teachers and the Global Teacher Prize Ambassador.

As part of the program’s main agenda, a message of support will be given by Metro Bank Foundation Inc. President and Co-Chair of the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council Aniceto Sobrepeña, Abra Governor Dominic B. Valera, and Representative of the Lone District of Abra Ching Bernos.

VP Duterte will then deliver a speech as the Guest of Honor of the said event.

Teachers Got Talent

From stand-up comedy and a band show, the third part of the event will focus on showcasing the field of expertise and gifts of teachers through a talent contest.

After announcing the finalists for the talent contest called Teachers Got Talent, a guest artist will carry out a performance. Afterwards, the winners of the contest will be announced, marking the end of DepED’s culminating program.

Meanwhile, DepED, through its Memorandum No. 085, instructed all public and secondary schools to follow the synchronized programs.

“All public and private elementary and secondary schools, including regional offices (ROs), school division offices (SDOs), and school district offices are enjoined to follow the synchronized programs, projects, and activities. A recitation of A Prayer for Teachers shall be observed during the NTD/WTD program at exactly 10:05 a.m.,” it said.
