The family of the victim, Maria Sofia Manulat Olaguir, appealed for justice and asked authorities on social media to investigate her death.

“Ma, dili ko moundang hangtud dili nako makuha ang hustisya! Sakit huna-hunaon kung giunsa ka nila...Ubani mi kanunay nga unta mahatagan ka ug hustisya (Ma, I will not stop until we get justice! It is very painful to think what they did to you. Please be with us always so that you will be given justice),” Olaguir’s daughter, Daisy, said in a Facebook post.

Daisy’s sibling Raisa appealed to Danao Mayor Thomas “Mix” Durano and Sen. Raffy Tulfo to help them in their quest for justice.

The body of Maria Sofia was discovered at past midnight on Saturday, Oct. 2, in Danao’s highest peak, Mount Manghinao, in Barangay Masabao.

The Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DCDRRMO) said she left their house in Barangay Sabang past 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, for Mount Manghilao to light a candle and offer a prayer before taking the Licensure Examination for Teachers on Sunday.

She failed to return home and her family reported her missing to authorities. The DCDRRMO was deployed to Mount Manghilao when they were informed that the woman planned to visit the place when she left home.

In a separate Facebook post, Daisy said her mother’s personal belongings were missing. The victim’s body was covered with a jacket. Her head was covered with a bag, Daisy added.

Police are still investigating the incident.
