Arrested was Christopher Cañete, 40, while his younger brother Carlo Jake Cañete, 35, is at large. Both are residents of Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Maj. Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said the siblings have been under the drugs watch list of the barangay and police station for a few weeks following information about their alleged engagement in the illegal drug trade.

Puerto said the elder Cañete allegedly transacted with a police agent, while the younger Cañete jumped into a river near their house during the operation.

Police recovered eight grams of shabu worth P54,400, and the P500 marked money.

In 2018, the elder Cañete was arrested for a drug offense, and was released through plea bargaining three years later.
