New Cebu City police chief takes over

CEBU CITY – The 1,200-strong Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has a new chief.

Col. Ireneo Dalogdog on Saturday, Oct. 1, officially assumed the post, replacing Col. Ernestu Salvador Tagle, who moved to the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.

Tagle was named CCPO chief in Jan. 10 this year.

Before moving to CCPO, Dalogdog served as the regional director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas.

Dalogdog is the top choice of City Mayor Michael Rama, who was given a list of five police officers as candidates to lead the CCPO.

“All of them are qualified, but from the panel, and I even concur that he is the one, as far as the panel is concerned, that could articulate what the city deserves to have,” Rama said on Friday, Sept. 30.

A comprehensive plan to ensure peace and order here in the coming holidays and next year’s Sinulog is what the mayor’s expects from the new CCPO chief.

Rama said his marching order for Dalogdog is to ensure that the city will remain peaceful.
