Ernest John Obiena vowed to pour it all in his mission to qualify and make a podium finish in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After eight months of joining different competitions which saw him break one record after another, the 26-year-old was received warmly during his homecoming at University of Santo Tomas Thursday, Sept. 29.

“Thank you. Thank you so much for making all of these past few weeks magical exceptionally, tiring, but heartwarming. I never thought I would be in this position. I never thought I would be this blessed to be receiving such love and care and really, truly as magical. It won’t be magical without the Filipino people. Without each and every one of you guys here. And maraming salamat. I hope I make you proud in the next two years,” said Obiena during his homecoming victory.

With two years to prepare for his next Olympic bid, Obiena will use this time to build confidence while participating in other competitions starting in January next year.

“We’re gonna work on a lot of things that would make my vaulting a lot more efficient than ever. Hopefully, that would maximize my potential going forward,” revealed Obiena.
