21 OFWs receives P10,000 aid from OWWA

At least 21 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) received livelihood assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Friday, Sept. 30.

According to OWWA-NCR, each beneficiary got P10,000 from the Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) and the Livelihood Development Assistance Program (LDAP).

OWWA has partnered with the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) to promote the advancement of migrant workers to establish livelihood ventures in the country.

NRCO Executive Director Dindi Tan urged all returning OFWs to avail the BPBH and LDAP platforms.

Tan said through the BPBH program, OFWs and their families were entitled to avail of a livelihood grant of up to P20,000.

“This program aims to help our returning OFWs. We encourage them to put up their businesses so that loved ones here in the Philippines should not only rely on their remittances. This is a good jumpstart for our Kababayan (fellow Filipinos) abroad. This is for all of you,” Tan said.

Under the OWWA’s direction, the BPBH is a training and employment project of the NRCO intended to expand employment and economic opportunities for OFWs through livelihood and skills training, including the distribution of business starter kits.

Meanwhile, the LDAP is a livelihood assistance program that entitles OFWs to avail of business enterprise start-up kits worth P10,000.

According to Tan, beneficiaries must complete a small business management training and financial awareness seminar from the NRCO to avail of the financial grant.
