The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has made clear that it does not intend to duplicate projects that have already been implemented by the national government, saying it would prioritize areas that have not been covered yet.

Talking about the OVP's response efforts after the onslaught of typhoon Karding, OVP Spokesperson Reynold Munsayac reiterated Vice President Sara Duterte's statement that they do not intend to duplicate or replicate initiatives that are already in place.

The same goes to the assistance offered by the OVP, he said.

"Natutuwa din kami na nalinaw na yung mga programa ng Office the Vice President ay hindi pagdu-duplicate o pagre-replicate sa program ng national government. Ito po ay complimentary o kino-complement ho namin yung programa nila para mas maraming maabot (We are glad that the programs of the OVP was made clear that we don't intend to duplicate or replicate the programs of the national government. These are complementary to the existing programs in order to reach more people)," Munsayac said in a press briefing on Friday, Sept. 30.

As for the typhoon response of the OVP, Munsayac said they have already

prepared the goods for typhoon victims, which will be distributed anytime.

He explained that these packs will be given to communities that are yet to be covered by the national government.

"Ayaw po nating makagulo dun sa operation ng ibang mga ahensya na primarily nagre-response dito at dahil nga ayaw namin ng duplication o replication. Doon kami pupunta sa mga hindi pa nila mako-cover (We don't want to cause confusion on the operations of other agencies primarily responding in this situation because we don't want any duplication or replication. We will go to areas that are not yet covered)," Munsayac stressed.

The spokesman said they have already identified the areas for distribution, although he did not specify them.

Munsayac also reported that Duterte has visited six provinces to distribute aid under the "Pagbabago campaign."

From July to Sept. 23, the OVP has released P126-million worth of medical burial assistance to 11,832 beneficiaries. It has also provided P10-million aid to 732 beneficiaries under its medical assistance to indigent patients program.

The OVP has also released P1.2-million assistance to individuals in crisis situations to 451 beneficiaries.

Munsayac further said that the OVP intends to add more buses to its "Libreng Sakay" program to benefit more commuters.
