Cayetano thanks VP Sara for issuing a ‘very clear directive’ to hold in-person classes


Senator Pia S. Cayetano on Thursday, September 29 thanked Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte for issuing a “very clear” directive regarding the need to hold face-to-face classes.

“Thank you for the example that you have set for DepEd,” Cayetano said during a public by her Senate finance subcommittee that went over DeEd’s proposed 2023 ₱666.25-billion budget.

Cayetano said that of the. 34 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), 75 percent of them are on a face-to-face mode.

The other SUCs are much less, she added.

Duterte said her department is focused on learning recovery efforts.

She also said there were no bottlenecks when all public and private schools opened.

Cayetano’s panel also tackled the proposed budgets of the National Academy of Sports (₱226.5 million), National Book Development Board (₱64 million), National Council for Children’s Television (₱32.7 million), Philippine High School for the Arts (₱100.8 million) and Early Childhood Care and Development Council (₱59.4 million).
