P1 M cash prize awaits MassKara champ in Bacolod


BACOLOD CITY -- The city government here will be giving away P1 million in cash prizes to the champion of the MassKara Street and Arena Dance competition in October.

This was revealed by Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairman of the City Council committee on Tourism.

The cash prize is the biggest so far in the history of the MassKara street and arena dance competition.

Seventeen barangays are expected to participate in the said competition. These are barangays 7, 12, 14, 22, 26, 27, 31, 34, 35, 40, Singcang-Airport, Alijis, Granada, Alangilan, Estefania, Sum-ag, and Tangub.

The competition will serve as one of the highlights of the MassKara Festival on Oct. 23 at the Paglaum Stadium.

Villarosa also said that P500,000 in cash prizes also await the champion for the Electric MassKara.

Barangays 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 20, 23, 25, 29, 32, and 39, will be participating in this competition.

Villarosa added that the local government through the festival organizer Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. has yet to decide on the cash prizes for the runners-up. “We’re still finalizing it,” he said.

Bacolodnons are looking forward to the MassKara Festival celebration after the festivity was suspended for two years due to the pandemic.

This year’s theme is ‘Balik Yuhum’ (It’s time to smile again).
