President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has conveyed his sympathy over the death of five rescuers in Bulacan during the onslaught of typhoon Karding.
"I am deeply saddened to hear that we lost five good men to Typhoon Karding yesterday," Marcos said in a statement posted on his Twitter page.
"Our prayers go to the families of George Agustin, Troy Justin Agustin, Marby Bartolome, Narciso Calayag Jr., and Jerson Resurreccion," he added.
He paid tribute to the "five fallen heroes," saying their bravery will live on our memory.
"Their courage and bravery will live on in our memory," the President said.
The five rescuers belonged to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in the province of Bulacan. They were reportedly washed away by flash flood while conducting rescue operations in San Miguel town at the height of Super Typhoon Karding.
