CEBU CITY -- A man and his live-in partner were arrested and facing frustrated parricide charges for allegedly beating up their one-year-old child in their house in Compostela town, northern Cebu on Friday, Sept. 23.
The Consolacion police identified the suspects as William Valiente and his live-in partner Brigilda Dacua.
Police said the couple admitted that they were under the influence of illegal drugs when the alleged abuse took place around 11 p.m. on Friday.
Police said the man’s younger sister reported to the police that the couple took turns beating up the child.
The couple went into hiding after the incident was reported to the police.
The Consolacion police said Valiente was arrested at the Carbon Public Market following an aggressive and continuous hot pursuit operation’ on Monday, Sept. 26.
The arrest of Valiente led to the arrest of Dacua, police said.
Police investigation showed that the couple got irritated when the child cried asking for milk.
The couple is now detained at the Compostela Police Station.
