Frasco noted in the celebration of World Tourism Day on Tuesday, Sept. 27, that the DOT is focusing on rethinking more programs for sustainable, inclusive, and resilient tourism advocacy.

“We celebrate World Tourism Day across the globe with the future in mind. As the tourism sector blooms again, we have the opportunity to rethink the impact this industry has brought and how we can contribute to a shared vision for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient sector,” said Frasco.

World Tourism Day (WTD) is celebrated every year on the 27th of September.

The day marks the generation of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) adopted in 1970 to recognize the organization's significant role in promoting tourism in the global arena.

The UNWTO adheres to 2022’s theme of promoting tourism dubbed as “World Tourism Day 2022: Rethinking Tourism” by refocusing the revival of tourism in the global spectrum.

Frasco also echoed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s adherence to uplifting Philippine tourism.

“The President has clearly identified tourism as a major tool for the economic resurgence of the Philippines. As we herald the Filipino Brand of tourism, we are committed to creating economic opportunities and livelihood for the Filipinos,” Frasco uttered.

The DOT chief slated in the recently concluded Philippine Economic Briefing (PEB) in the United States of America (USA) the DOT’s 7-point program and the three strategies of connectivity, convenience, and E(quality) as the prime directive of the government’s tourism agenda.
