Over 5,000 Bulacan residents evacuate due to Super Typhoon  Karding 


A total of 5,239 Bulakenyos were forced to leave their homes and took shelter in various evacuation centers in the province to escape the wrath of Super Typhoon Karding on Sunday, Sept. 25, until Monday, Sept. 26.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Rowena J. Tiongson, 117 evacuation centers are currently housing 1,571 families, including 1,447 children and 231 senior citizens in the province.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando with Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro and Obando Mayor Leonardo D. Valeda immediately responded and distributed family food packs (FFP) and non-food items (NFI) to 176 families temporarily sheltered in Obando Municipal Hall.

Fernando also delivered aid to the affected Bulakenyos in the municipalities of San Miguel, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Angat, San Ildefonso, and San Rafael which were also badly hit by “Karding”.

As of 7 a.m. Monday, Angat Dam’s elevation is at 184.07 meters which is below the flood season high water level of 210 meters; Ipo Dam is at 101.07 meters, above the spilling level of 101.00 meters; while Bustos Dam is at 16.22 meters, below the spilling level of 17.50 meters.
